Digital Antique Irish Maps

Digital versions of antique maps are superlative in that they offer increased accessibility and improved security to what are very important graphic documents. The Collection is a fascinating resource of Irish maps and charts from the 16th to the 20th centuries. The digital images are all high resolution and can be printed at the original scale if required. It is the major All Ireland digital map collection.

The Collection includes a range of over 40 different map types from the earliest printed maps of Ireland produced in the late 16th Century through to the unique topographical maps produced by the British Military at the start of the Second World War.

IIR01 ADMIRALTY CHARTS

The complete set of 19th Century charts covering the Irish coastline and the River Shannon.

 

IR02 NAUTICAL CHARTS

A series of charts from the 16th to the 19th centuries of the Irish coastline including the rare 18th century charts by Murdoch Mackenzie and colour versions of Greenville Collins charts..

 

IR03 THE COASTAL PILOT BY GREENVILLE COLLINS 1753

The atlas of the complete set of charts of the coasts of Britain & Ireland.

 

IR04 BARONY MAPS HIBERNIUM REGNUM

A complete suite of barony maps from 1655-9, derived from the Down Survey. The maps are in colour and show a range of topographical features including buildings and roads.

 

IR05 DED MAPS

Maps showing the District Electoral Divisions. The country is covered by 4 maps and a single composite map.

 

IR06 GRAND JURY MAPS c1780

The Collection includes maps of 17 counties by foremost cartographers.

An extensive range of more than 1200 maps of Ireland extending from the 14th to the 19th centuries. All the major mapmakers from this period are represented. The provincial maps include Speed and Petty. The large maps by John Rocque includes the 2 individual maps and a composite map of the Country.

The complete set of maps of 103 maps including every major town in Ireland.

IR25 MANUSCRIPT TOWN PLANS 1830

Manuscript town plans at a scale of 5ft to one mile were produced prior to the issuing of the 1st edition of the OS 6in maps. The maps are in colour and are remarkable for the detail and quality of the draughtsmanship.

The Collection currently includes maps for 20 towns.
